Architectural Raceway Molding

When bringing service to residential and commercial buildings, designers and technicians need ways to protect and conceal the cables that they integrate into the existing structure. Architectural raceway molding is the most common solution to this problem. Professionals mount these enclosed tracks on walls or along the floor and thread cable through them.

Raceway molding is also a great tool for routing wiring and for concealing cables that would otherwise be exposed. These are also sometimes referred to as a latching duct solution, as the raceway itself acts as a duct, and the 360 enclosure around the wire can have a latching mechanism to securely hold all wiring in place.

What is truly unique about Multilink’s Raceway Molding system, with an emphasis on architectural plastic and steel molding, is that they are designed and built specifically for fiber optic cable. That explains why Multilink's raceway molding is the first choice for the top 5 telecommunication operators in the United States. Some of our more unique moldings include the Downspout Raceway System and our newly-patented MicroMolding™. Our Raceway Molding systems are fast, simple, easy, and re-enterable and are made to comply with UL listed specifications.

Though simple in concept, choosing the right raceway molding for the job relies on a number of complex factors, including the type of cable the molding needs to direct, the intended location of the molding and the building owner's design preferences.

At Multilink, we provide a wide variety of wiremold products, including decorative raceway molding, steel raceway molding, plastic raceway molding and more. Our wiremold cable raceways come in many different sizes and styles, so we can help you can find a product that meets your project's needs. Keep reading to learn what makes Multilink's raceway molding a top choice for telecommunications companies.

Raceway vs. Conduit

Raceways are a type of electrical conduit, but are more versatile, flexible and suitable for a broader range or uses. Raceways allow you to still access wiring after installation, they’re easy to use and install, and they come in a variety of materials that look good in residential or commercial uses

Electrical conduits are metal tubes that protect electrical wiring. Wiring is then fed through the tubing which protects it from dirt, dust and moisture. Once installed, the wiring inside a conduit is very hard to access. Additionally, electrical conduits are usually only available in silver metallic color, making them better suited for industrial applications.

Durable Low-Visibility Fiber Network for High Performance

In addition to hiding cables from view, raceway molding also serves to protect them from damage. In particular, raceway molding protects cables from foot traffic, water, pests and other elements that might harm the network infrastructure or disrupt a connection. As a result, the raceway products you choose need to meet high durability and performance standards.

Another reason to conceal wires is aesthetics! Raceways are surface-mounted wire moldings and can be mounted to walls or another surface allowing the wires to run through any path without hindering the look of the space. Additionally, when wires are run through a raceway, they don’t develop “dust balls” around them, which leaves the space cleaner not only visually.

At Multilink, we use durable, high-quality materials that make our molding products capable of standing up to wear and resisting cracking and warping. To ensure our products meet our customers' high expectations, we test all our wiremold products in a laboratory before putting them on the market, so you can feel confident in your molding's ability to protect valuable fiber.
