Multilink Gives Back

You already know that Multilink serves our customers and community through our mobile classroom The Lab, educational videos through Multilink U and our family of innovative and user-friendly products. What you might not know, however, is that we're also committed to giving back to those in need.

Multilink has been supporting organizations that work to assist people who suffer from Alzheimer's Disease for the past decade, growing to become the Alzheimer’s Association’s oldest and largest contributor on the west side of Clevleand. We routinely participate in our local Walk to End Alzheimer's and, more recently, through a dunk tank at our company picnic.

The 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer's for Lorain County was held on Saturday, September 21 at Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio and Multilink was there along with President/CEO Steve Kaplan and his family. You can view our team's donation progress by clicking here. We're happy to say that we exceeded our goal of $1,000 this year!

Sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, The Walk to End Alzheimer's is an annual event held in more than 600 communities in the United States. It's also the largest event in the world to raise support and money for Alzheimer's care, support and research.

This past August, Multilink hosted our second annual Rock the Lot employee event in the parking lot of our headquarters in Elyria, Ohio, where our Mechanical Engineering Manager Larry Kuchta's band "Cocktail Johnny" gave a live performance.

It was a great way for employees to get to know each other outside of work, with catering and camaraderie. Perhaps the biggest attractive of the event, however, was the ability to dunk Steve and his son, Ryan, Multilink's Production Manager, in a dunk tank. Attendees could purchase softballs and raffle tickets, the proceeds from which went to a donation pool for this year’s walk.

Not only did we get to see some memorable splashes, it also helped support a great cause. In total, we ended up raising 159% of our original goal for the Alzheimer’s Association. Every year, Multilink also hosts a luncheon in which employees can buy food to help support the cause.

Alzheimer’s Disease has had a major impact on the Kaplan Family. Earlier this year, Steve’s mother Gilda Kaplan passed away, and in honor of her and her late husband who suffered from the disease, the Kaplans are going to start making large annual donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Even if you don't live in Ohio, you can still find your nearest Walk and sign up to participate in or donate to the cause.

According to the Alzheimer's Association, Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that leads to issue with memory, thinking and behavior. More than five million Americans are already living with the disease, and another person in the U.S. develops Alzheimer's every 65 seconds. The disease is expected to cost the United States $290 billion in 2019 alone.

Every little bit helps, and we're grateful to have such a supportive community around the world. Thanks for all you've done for us. We're happy to give back.
